     @lanodan let's be honest, it wasn't that hard to find on the late pawoo. I once opened their public timeline and there were nasty messages, that contained links to encrypted IMs.
     
     They were literally bad at moderation.

     @a1ba Not that mastodon really helps in giving the proper tools for moderation at scale, even today it still seems to be very much a manual operation.
     
     Usually the spammers at least using unlisted messages though, or worse direct messages.

     @jeffcliff @a1ba I think opennic resolvers are generally configured to handle ICANN domains as well, but not on their own authority, ergo they'd be subject to the suspension, whenever it makes its way over.

     @Zerglingman @a1ba I'm not saying that Pawoo had good moderation because it didn't.
     But that you have to factor external reports being known-awful plus Mastodon not providing appropriate tooling for a continuous stream of messages (where you need to be able to set powerful filters), nor even appropriate for a massive amount of messages (aka backlog/history)
     
     There's only so much humans can do manually, or are you forgetting how awful *all* other gigantic mastodon instances are at moderation?

     Never had good reports from Mastodon instances. Most of them are "figure out yourself" kind of reports.
