@theorytoe The author states she wants to make Fedi "fun" but the proposed solutions clearly ruin the fun. These people contradict them selves frequently and often in the same paragraph, and even same sentence. I feel bad for these people. I don't even feel like mocking them anymore.
@theorytoe this explains why a few annoying people on twitter start appending “bsky(.)social” onto their handle
they’re free to reinvent the wheel several times over all they want (did fediblock stop working as intended?) , as long as i don’t have to see their shit
@theorytoe they want e2e encryption in DMs so that they can ERP in dms without worrying about a server breach and plaintext dm leaks. When I believe the real issue with E2E DMs on fediverse is the issue of multidevice support.
@japananon@theorytoe they have a user-tree where you can see who invited whom. never really fixed spam. many long time users with much "karma" got banned for wrongthink. both you can see from the moderation log.
my vote is that you can either have padded echo chambers shielding people from dissenting views or some kind of open system where you occasionally have to deal with shit content (or delegate that decision to someone you trust) but can have unpoliced conversations in exchange for it.
as always, no such thing as free lunch.
fun note about the original proposal: they think they (the thought police) are the majority while servers on the "dark side of fedi" have really many users with imo much better user engagement.
@theorytoe@ak.kyaruc.moe >PoC How dare this person erase the efforts of the Japanese to build up the Mastodon network. We stand on the shoulders of giants, who in turn on are standing on mountains of hentai.
