@Zerglingman What are your needs for it? If you have no needs, what is your expected use?
-
@anonymous It's probably going to end up in my LAN kit, hence artix image. But I need more computers for that, so it's hardly urgent. Therefore I'm going to play with it first.
-
@Zerglingman So a modem, router? I am not sure what you mean by "LAN kit".
-
@anonymous I'm not installing openwrt on it lol
I'm going to set aside a bank of computers for running LANs, so I can just bring all the gear, set it up, and participants can just rock up and play.
Because fucking zoomers need to learn how to LAN
-
@Zerglingman Well actually OpenWRT is mostly for actual modems. Basically any OS can be a router if you have enough ethernet slots or a wireless card.
-
@anonymous Yeah I just have a 24-port gigabit switch instead
Actually I have two (I think? not sure if the other one is gigabit) but it doesn't work anyway
-
@Zerglingman I don't like switches much. It's a huge pain in the ass to talk between computers. 😯
-
@anonymous Man, it just werks. Except when it's a hardware fault.
-
@Zerglingman Maybe my experience is unique, my switch was different, or I am retarded (probs the latter), but the four port switch I used to use forced me to talk to other computers over the internet. Though this was before I gave enough fucks/chops to look into how to talk to other local computers. 🤷
