   (I was there. The audience clapped when a member of Erdoğan’s government stated there must be limits to freedom online. I’d given up my Turkish citizenship by then but another attendee who was posting critically about the proceedings who was a Turkish citizen had two court cases opened up against him by the first afternoon. It was an eye-opener for a younger me.)

     It's offensive that the next Internet Governance Forum will be held in Saudi Arabia, which may be the world's most pervasive censor of online speech (up there with China): https://www.wired.com/story/united-nations-igf-saudi-arabia-russia/
