   I'm of the mind that "war crime" is newspeak to make war seem acceptable as long as we keep it polite, and that allows us to pretend war is ever polite. Ever notice it's the bad guys committing war crimes? I feel the same way about "terrorism" these days. Not that there can't be lines we agree not to cross, but walls and defenses work better.

     @BigSkyRider ah but you see we have a neat little carve out for biological research that's easily weaponized so it's not technically a crime. We just do it without calling it a weapon and poof it's not a crime.

     @thatguyoverthere the talking heads misrepresent as usual. Nuclear/Biological/Chemical weapons for instance should be an easy line to agree on, and it is, and while the USG ignores that line, they are committing war crimes, or crimes against humanity depending on how you want to carve it.

     It is always the bad guys doing war crimes, the media simply lies about who the bad guy is.

     @thatguyoverthere no, it's literally a crime, the government is just ignoring the weapons ban treaty they signed. "We" do it, while owning the courts, prosecutors and law enforcement so that anyone attempting to seek justice will be swept into the machine. It's all a giant mob operation, they're not going to punish themselves for their crimes.

     @BigSkyRider I don't know. I think the dual use stuff they pretend is in the name of finding cures for future diseases might be technically legal, but the larger point is that war is always vile. I mean hypocrisy is also an issue but that wasn't really the point of my original post.
