   Florida’s revised #history standards includes this:

   “Instruction includes how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”

   Two anthropologists explain this as a deeply entrenched ‘switching mechanism’, where “the story about the horrors of the slave system is transformed into a story about opportunity, success and the American dream.”

     @DYSX @TheConversationUS @blackmastodon Yeah but @blackmastodon is part of the problem...hyper fixating the glorification of a race creates a divide always...just look at transsexual people.

     @TheConversationUS @blackmastodon this reminds me of Australia... the mindset that the indigenous Australians somehow "benefitted" from the invasion, theft and destruction of their world. When the climate collapse happens, brought about by white european's industrial revolution, will we claim that the new climate somehow "benefits" everybody?
