   I think we can safely say that people in the UK don't live in a democracy. The government keeps doing shit that ordinary citizens don't agree with or vote on. And they just aren't held accountable for their basically crimes against the people at this point.

     @sim I think honestly there is no one living under real democracy. We all vote on representatives who then get to vote however they want and are under no obligation to be honest to the people voting for them or behave in a way that is beneficial to them. With the exception of some local elections, you are provided with establishment approved candidates to choose from. You don't really get much choice, but lots of talk about muh democracy

     @thatguyoverthere This sounds like we live under exactly what you said. How can they talk about living under a democracy with that? And it is so bizarre that the establishment can pressure even a prime minister out of his role. Where is the democracy in that?

     @sim @Flick yeah it came out about as you'd expect, but the failure to follow through was a signal that democracy was dead or never existed. They didn't even have to put it up to an vote, but then being unhappy with the results and choosing not to honor the people's choice spoke volumes.
