   Hello #bookstodon and @bookstodon
   Forgive me for spamming you, but maybe you can help me? I'm trying to learn to use mastodon better, so I have a few questions about your habits.
   Do you use both tag and group? Or just the one? What do you use it for? Examples:
   To talk with others about books.
   To find an online community I fit into.
   To learn of new books I didn't know existed.
   To broadcast my blog posts/reviews about books.
   Other?

   Does it work for you?

     The group will reach 100% of people who subscribe to the group.

     The hashtag will only reach people who are following/searching for the hashtag AND whose server has noticed your account.

     So, groups tend to reach more servers, but hashtags tend to reach people who aren't in groups.

     You can ask Lists not to show posts from the list on your Home feed (see the guide here: https://fedi.tips/how-to-use-the-lists-feature-on-mastodon/).

     However, the Home feed exclusion feature on Lists is very new, I haven't tested whether it works on boosts yet (which is what Groups use).

     @feditips yes, and that's what makes this complicated. I really want to add the group to a list without having to follow it (because I don't want it in my home feed). Is there a way to do this?
