You know, while I am very pissed that yet another site has been taken down by copykikes, at the same time I'm not really all that upset, given that it's basically expected at this point. In fact, in a way, seeing this kind of desperate flailing is a bit heartening, cause if they were actually doing well, there'd be no need for this kind of witch-hunt bullshit. It's also great for generating resentment amongst the normies, which will hopefully catalyze actual changes to copyright law instead of this "THINK OF THE ARTISTS (actually the publishers and lawyers and other assorted parasites)!!!!!! :soy_cry: " shit you see on Twitter and the like.

I guess my basic point is that if a company is doing well, it doesn't need to chase the tiny fraction of revenue lost to piracy, and doesn't need to worry about its customer base having an alternative means of accessing its content. So hopefully the uptick in this bullshit recently is a sign that these companies are circling the drain, and will finally die. :holo_impatient:
And of course, I hope them doing shit like this creates a backlash, but I know full well the futility of putting too much hope in normalfags doing anything other than passively consooming. :nacho_disgust:

@Giganova8 the pursuit of removing every bit on infringement from sites is honestly stupid
I doubt the 1 guy making fangames is going to steal your profits

I'm just amazed that they haven't caught on that piracy does fuck-all to hurt sales of even a mediocre product. Otherwise, why would GOG still be around? Pirating their stuff is literally just download installer -> upload to pirate site. If the BS about piracy hurting sales was true, GOG should be constantly on the verge of failing, yet they aren't. :kanna_inspect:
Even just saying "well it's greedy companies" doesn't make sense, cause they actually lose money and reputation doing shit like this. :awoo_what10:

@wgiwf
ksk.moe, Fakku ripping site. I'm currently trying to see if I can't get a copy of the site off the owner and mirror it on my seedbox.

@Giganova8 What site went down now?
-
@Giganova8 its more probably with intellectual property (read intellectual spook)
restircting their idea to only their use so that they can benifit from sole ownership and thus all the profits

@theorytoe
But that still doesn't answer the piracy question, cause pirates don't make profit off of the IP they distribute. That would go for bootleggers, yeah, but pirates aren't really eating into the paying customer market like that. If anything, piracy generates a paying customer market where there wasn't one before. :holo_think:
I can only guess that it must be some combination of ignorance (buying into the "piracy = lost sales" hysteria) and pure, short-sighted greed, cause God knows none of the copycucks will ever clearly explain their motives beyond lots of bleating about "Muh fair play! Muh starving artists!!". :senko_sigh:
