@tiskaan @coolboymew I think it's partly true but I also dislike it because it falls apart the more you think about it. like, if you are white and are in japan in some ways you are treated better not worse. or the assumption that if you're white you haven't experienced being the only different person in a room.
anyway I posted it because I thought it was thought provoking not because I completely agreed or disagreed with it. I think it's good to experience this in your life because it forces personal growth and to a lesser extent because it does foster empathy for outsiders.

@Moon @coolboymew i think race and microagression stuff is kinda overblown but ive had situations where ive been "othered" but it was more due to me being a developmentally retarded and being apart of special education school until i was 11

@tiskaan @coolboymew When I was in Europe I was almost always with people that could help me through problems but I wonder how often if you live there and moved between countries you would probably have similar experience. so maybe the text is biased toward americans.

@Moon @coolboymew yeah its loaded with assumptions like that, i just assumed this was for someone from an western anglophone country going to japan for the first time
