LPNH is still going strong

@cjd I wonder if 60 cents is really as low as we can take it. Rope is reusable for example.

I don't trust any jury with that kind of power. I'd totally send this guy to live in a maximum security sweatshop though. I like the idea of him sewing labels on clothing to offset the cost of keeping him there and compensating his victims.
Oh and he will work hard, because if he doesn't he'll be discharged and the families will find him.

@Eiregoat @cjd Jury? Why not ChatGPT :thunkin:

It's one approach, and I can see it working with some people. I don't think prisons should be anything the public has to fund though. It should be more like the judge issues a minimum security requirement and it's up to you to find somewhere that satisfies it and to pay for it.
That way there's competition to keep abuse down and encourage experimentation.
It also provides long term solutions for offenders with a high chance of recidivism too. So instead of CP addicts and junkies ending up homeless in some city being a huge risk to the locals, they can be required to find an "offenders community" somewhere like alaska where they can still live a somewhat free life after their time is served but they don't get to just wander around.
Ultimately it all rests on restoring freedom of association. Decisions like immigration and deportation should be decided locally.

I think the Japanese conception of prison is a pretty good one. It's safe, you're treated like a human being, and the food is not industrial slop. But it's like years of military training and work to beat the criminal instincts out of you and make you into an upstanding citizen.

You're gonna go to their investor meeting and complain that they aren't efficient enough? 😂
