Dear Dr. Freemo: People often ascribe a negative definition to the word “comprise,” politicians must be able to reach a workable consensus with the opposition political parties whereby they individually and collectively can effectively govern within the strictures of the Constitution of the United States. Compromise is essential in being able to hammer out political agreements in order to successfully maintain our Republic. I took the time to read the entire thread, I believe that people should utilize Stare Decisis, to stand by things decided,” politicians need to uphold constitutional legal precedent while being in the performance of their respective duties owed to “we the people.”
Simply put, the founding fathers had to make political compromises in order to create and ratify the Constitution of the United States.
Contemporary politicians cannot just ignore the essence of the founding fathers’ political compromises. Stare Decisis means also if my memory serves me correctly to call upon past decisions to testify on our behalf. We will cease to function as a viable nation if we fail to follow the precedents of our governing founding fathers!
