   Someone's asked me to remind people to set the image focus / crop centre tool when uploading images on Mastodon.

   Although the Mastodon default web interface no longer crops images, some other apps and interfaces do, and images may be difficult to see on some timelines if the focus hasn't been set.

   To set focus on Mastodon web interface:
   1. Attach image
   2. Click Edit
   3. Choose focus point
   4. Click Apply

   Apps will have various interfaces for setting focus.

     As far as I know, Mastodon does remove metadata when posting media?

     A metadata cleaner would be a nice option when posting a picture.

     You don't have to take any notice of the tip, it's just there if you want your post to be properly visible on a wider range of apps/interfaces 😃

     I think the reason stated was that many photographers/artists were annoyed by automatic cropping.
