@moth_ball @hj @Lbabinz @romin The point is that I get to actually own the game, I can do whatever I want with it, it's complete in cart AND due to more limited run rather than widespread availability in stores (and even there), it's a guarantee it's not going to drop to bottom prices
It's a win/win/win all around

You legally cannot use the game to earn money by letting other people play (I.e. making an arcade/net cafe), you legally cannot reverse engineer and disassemble and modify it, reselling, making backups, etc is illegal, even streaming is gray area. "Owning" a physical version does not give you any advantage over having a downloaded version on your drive. The only advantage is being able to sell it to fools like yourself. And if you're buying a game just purely for its scarcity then I really pity the fool.

It's legal to make backups of copies of games you own per the DMCA. As long as you're not distributing them for profit or otherwise. I can see nintendos argument with downloading roms though since the roms are technically someone elses game that is being distributed but if you download it and own a copy of the game it's a gray area since technically the game on the cart and your digital backup should have the same MD5/SHA1 hash if it's a legitimate untampered copy and they can't really prove you didn't back it up or downloaded it off someone else.
