     @picandor@gameliberty.club @coolboymew@shitposter.club I always gotta keep a close eye with sonarr when it comes to anime but to be fair anime can get really bullshit sometimes.
     
     Black butler is a great example cuz TVdb lists some OVAs and movies as specials despite being canon and necessary before watching season 4.
     
     It's an issue of trying to fit anime into a western tv format. But in the west, shows have a specific end and planned route while animes can stop or continue at any point if the money comes in.

     Third party sites will always try to wrangle this into their own cataloging format, just like anilist likes to create separate entries for recaps or OVAs that are officially identified as "episode 12.5" or whatever. Airing format autism has caused inconvenient and incorrect decisions in the past for anilist (e.g. https://anilist.co/forum/thread/9604/1 ) so I'd only use them as a data point for consensus, not an authority on any series cataloging.
