shoved hitachi 2TB HDD from 2011 into desktop PC, it's been idling in NAS this whole time. Still works.

@coolboymew I mean their sturdyness really depends on two major factors:
- build quality
- amount of time disks have been powered on.
First one really depends on manufacturer and year of make (i.e. very old drives might have inherent reliability problems)
So the only way you can "wear them out" really is how often you spin them up. Unlike SSDs which do wear out with writes.
