horror is a subgenre of comedy and im tired of pretending its not
-
Evil Dead 2 and Scream and Young Frankenstein and Friday the 13th Part VI are just praxis of combining them. Before film we had circuses and magicians who were advertising off shock "IM GOING TO GET MUTILATED/BURNT/DROWN LIVE ON STAGE WATCH ME TRY THIS FEAT" and it was "fun". Early film took that and made practical horrorhumor in Chaplain/Marx/Keaton nearly falling off buildings or enduring injuries or being put into serious life ending situations with nbd. All it takes to transform that into "pure horror" is add realism.
