The other one (and the far more important one IMO) is that the incentives are totally misaligned for actually building and using said infrastructure. That's why LVT is so important and why a literal Muslim ghetto enclaved in the center of Detroit has better walkability and locality than pretty much anywhere else in the entire Midwest. -

If it can work in Detroit, it can work anywhere. -

oh and of course there's a public transit system but it doesn't actually work that well. have fun waiting for that to get fixed. ETA is never
bike paths? yeah those would have been great if they'd been planned for from the start. good luck reworking the road system now that everything is built up -

Why is work 5 miles away?
Why is public transit not fixed?A *lot* of countries less fucktarded than the USA & Canada manage it. Surely we're not so uniquely moronic (more so than our ancestors, we had such infrastructure in the past) as to be the only ones incapable of fixing that.

Look at the Netherlands, who did exactly that. -

I dunno that I'd agree with that. there's a real cost incentive to ditch your car any time you're able to, provided that public transit meets your needs
as to building the infrastructure, that seems like an issue of political will more than incentives
I don't immediately see what LVT has to do with public infrastructure? seems like it's entirely about private ownership. removing a perverse incentive that usually isn't too much of a problem but in the extreme case has resulted in widespread speculation
actually it seems like LVT might have a number of its own issues but I guess that's neither here nor there given the problems detroit currently has
