     Why do people still like this controller again? Pure nostalgia? It's honestly not anything special, the refinements they did on the controller layout for the Wii U and Switch pro controllers are much better.

     Having a central core button for all the most common actions in games (advancing dialogue, jumping, moving through menus, etc.) With all the secondary buttons surrounding it is much more intuitive than the 2x2 diagonal grid for buttons that every other controller uses, imo, especially when game devs can't decide if O OR X is the "yes" button for menus.
