AWIVR (awivr@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 22-Sep-2023 15:27:49 JST AWIVR AHRS failure in IMC -
AWIVR (awivr@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 22-Sep-2023 15:27:46 JST AWIVR F-35 has a backup ADI and multiple redundant avionics computers but for whatever reason the pilot seems to have had a cascading failure (lighting strike?) causing his instruments to become unreliable.
I believe he was only at 1,000 feet at the time, there's not a lot of time to make an ejection decision in that envelope. -

I explained a couple of days ago here about how dangerous flying in clouds without instruments is.
the emergency procedure for a total AHRS failure in IMC in a fighter is to eject.

I’m pretty surprised the US military has fewer backup nav systems than a Cessna 172.

Some German Guy (some_german_guy@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 22-Sep-2023 15:27:49 JST Some German Guy what do you think, did the pilot really eject or is this story made up to hide even more ridiculous shit? -
Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks (washedoutgundampilot@poa.st)'s status on Friday, 22-Sep-2023 15:28:08 JST Woggy's Zeonic Frolicks Might be worth looking into the japs or koreans? I vaguely remember a downed f35 with something like this, guy said the avionics just cut out on him or something
