     depends on the medication, some SSRIs have terrible withdrawals so people don't want to stop
     but yeah, fucked microbiome will usually equal a fucked brain

     @DrCassone While the toots statement is true, the statement in the picture is incredibly short-sighted and just plain wrong. Even worse the AI generated background as well as the missing alt text.

     Yes, treat the root cause. Yes, bodily functions and misbehaviour can lead to depression. NO, medication is NOT addictive, it's an ENABLER of successful treatment.

     @p Usually ppl never just "stop" taking an SSRI .... it's a process of reducing the dosage over time until you got down to zero.

     Tapered or weening....

     Medications which go and interact deeply in some human systems, neurologically or otherwise, doe not necessarily classify as "addictive" just because you need to careful set in and get out of a medicinally usable dosage.

     So just telling ppl that medications are addictive doesn't really fit the bill imho.
