@icedquinn do they get fudge rounds in prison?
-
@lain i'm pretty sure the prison food is really bad because that whole sector is full of really severe crony capitalism and profit optimization.
but its fun to shitpost that the US is fine being socialist but only if you punch a cop first
-
@lain @tiskaan there is a significant moral hazard to using prison labor for very much. you don't want the state to be in a position to profit from putting humans in storage facilities.
i don't see much of a reason for people who aren't being violent to be in prison. if we have enough shit to make a billion iphones a year then we have enough to put them in GPS monitors instead :blobcatdunno:

@tiskaan @lain there were states where they used them to press the license plates. some have chain gangs where they just have them go waste everyone's time busting up rocks for no real reason.
for the most part the prisons get paid to be storage facilities, so they just try to keep them alive enough not to get sued. paroles have also been denied purely because it would have left the prison below residency.

@tiskaan @lain some states it used to be

@icedquinn @lain is the meme that prisoners are being used as a subdised labour force true?
