   My roommate got me a keyboard at a recycling place and I discovered it has software that lets me look into the settings, which tells me exactly how many times any key has been pressed.

   over the 87,000 hours this keyboard has been in use, the "F" key has been pressed 48,879 times, not counting the times it took to type this message.

     @matthew slightly? but it doesn't tell me in what order the keys were pressed, just which ones.

     So it's a Cherry MY 7000 USB (MultiBoard V2 G81-7000) keyboard.
     The fun parts are that it's got Cherry FTSC keyswitches: they're mechanical-over-membrane keyswitches. Yeah. Weird.

     but the other fun part is that it's not, for once, an 8051.

     It's a Renesas M38K29F8L, an 8-bit microcontroller from the Mitsubishi 740 family

     a minor 3rd bit of weirdness:
     no screws.
     it's got like 8 plastic clips holding it together, and then a bunch more holding the PCB in. But no screws.

     also the PCB has 6 LEDs on it:
     but the metal keyboard backplate covers up three of them. They're completely invisible from outside the case
