Cool, it has all the hallmarks of an aborted product that will hit the street at 4x the original MSRP, sell 20 units, and get sold off to a bigger company who’ll realize the folly of their purchase and never touch the design again.
The market speak is nasty. Stuff in this market is deadly because it’s forced to sell itself to guys with enough money for an aircraft, and enough impatience to demand they fly everywhere…..but not enough money to hire flight staff.
So you end up w/ douchebags who refuse to invest time in building skill, respecting the machine, and honing their muscle memory. That’s why “private helicopter for the OWNER” is so freaky. This just means some cocky biz owner can kill himself and 6 influencer friends
Just look at how INNOVATIVE these cgi renders are!!!
Big red flag whenever I see this - tells me they’re blowing money on media coverage instead of the prototype aircraft they’re designing.
Finish the bird, THEN market it, nutsack. This shit is why nobody cares when you finally start production - you’ve been parading your product around for half a decade pretending it’s for sale, it’s old by the time it really is
huh…..at least they seem prompt. If you want more info they straight up book a zoom call with you. At least someone gets it in this industry. Time is imperative. Best thing you can do when moving planes is be the first guy to pick up the phone and hit the ground running.
“I don’t have that model but if you want to come out we can give you a tour of what we have on hand to get a feel for what you DO want”
Works way better than sending them a text 3 weeks later saying “I heard you’re in the market for a Saratoga….call me at”
They’re…..making their own engine? I assume someone’s building it for them, and it’s not uncommon for these companies to try and keep the actual manufacturer secret, but I don’t recognize this thing. Not my strong topic, but a 400 hp turbine would be a hot commodity already.
All of this just absolutely reeks of guys reaching way too far from the start, putting on way too much glitz and slick advertising, doing way too much in-house…..I’ll be amazed if they’re around in 10 years. There’s just too much they’re trying to do all at once. Hell, I betcha I’ll see a page about how they have to have custom avionics ‘cause it’s just so darn advanced.
They made one back in the day called the cherokee six - plenty of seats, without any extra power. Turns out you CANT take off with 1500 lbs of obese people when you only have 140 hp
“i love the fact the founder was heavily inspired by airwolf growing up!”
Well their fanbase seems optimistic….all 20 of those indians.
At best this will end up being sold off once the design is like, 80% there if they ever reach that point? They need funding, and I would near guarantee they’ll botch the design. It’s going to be way too complex, non-optimized, and expensive to any existing ac company. They’ll support it for a few years but quietly retire it citing a weak RW market.
Funny, the Bushmaster ACR was in that same vein. magpul designed a cool prototype in the masada, but failed to make it easy to produce. Having staff who understand the process is a huge, HUGE requirement if you wanna ever make money building things. If you let the engineers do it….everything is a damn prototype, with all the cost that entails.
