   I was gonna say I called it, but these things aren’t nearly as timed-out as I thought. Guess that goes to show just how little the euros actually fly their planes. 8,000 came and went for ours years ago, they don’t have much problem if they want to run them up another 5,000 hours since the USAF already did the “research” to extend the hour limitation.

   I wouldn’t write off the F-16s from dutch-land just yet. All it takes is some pinching from the biden admin and they’ll miraculously go from “aging, end of life” planes to “plenty of use left in them!”

   “they have cracks in the bodywork!” uh huh, you’ve totally been flying them w/ busted frames. He’s playing it up. Even if they have a few parts birds, that’s just MORE money for lockheed to strip them down and re-wing them or whatever they do to the eagles.

     Oh good heavens, why can’t the ukes look at a single thing the nazi’s did and NOT copy them? Pull your damn experienced guys OUT OF THE DEATH ZONE. The luftwaffe kept its aces flying non stop until they were all dead, and then had to ship out trainees and high schoolers to meet experienced american aircrews from 44 on. Not a great recipe.

     You pull your boys back and put them to work training the next kids. Give them someone to idolize, motivate them, show that flying for you isn’t a GD death sentence like you’re a bunch of convicts.

     There’s a point to not wasting a slot in F-16’s on an old guy who’s proficient in a totally foreign system, but that doesn’t mean the old man stays at the front. You just pull him back, give him a sukhoi, and have him train from that.

     That’s what it takes regardless though. There’s just too much that you have to learn as a fighter jock today, it’s not as simple as learning the flows, systems, and spinning the prop to go shoot at stuff. Everything is very complex, and multirole a/c double the workload and study required in order to do the mission.

     It’s a LOT to jam into you, and that’s just the book work. The instincts, the habit patterns, muscle memory all take repetition and time. At least they’re giving a realistic estimate. If they said they could do it in 2 years they’d basically be admitting they only expected the guys to kamikaze a target or two

     They know that things are probably staying how they are for…….ever. Russkies taking kiev for real doesn’t seem to be something they care about, at this point it’s just the grift, the promises, the spending for companies to sell more new aircraft after decades of peace undercut 5th gen fighter sales.

     They have all the time in the world to send them, the russians are comfy with the border they’ve carved. They don’t seem so eager to cross it.

     i mean what i'm really saying is if i were ukraine i'd be worrying a lot less about having planes i gotta spend 5 years training people for and figure something else out, cuz you know that shit don't look like it's gonna take another 5 years for the russians.

     If they send them to the front the kids will be dead in a week. It’s also a tacit admission that it’s not likely that ukraine will ever take back its territories, so they’ll pretend they’ve reassigned things to “capitol defense”.

     Probably gonna end up like korea with a DMZ and everything
