Before that we were the kind of company businesses wanted to work with. Now we want to be the kind of company investors want to stake capital on. We brag internally about NPS scores that we used to make fun of -

I am glad I left corporate America in 2016 after a 5 year stint at Morgan Stanley (wanted to quit after ~2-3 months, but they paid well)

I do interact with our customer, but I've been dedicated to the customer since before the company even existed (in it's current form). I am not in charge of anything related to finance. I am a beep boop guy just pushing electrons around and answering questions when they arise. I don't pick people to interview for new jobs (although I do particpate in the hiring process) so it's not like diversity stuff really applies. HR has already done that by the time they see me. The work I do with vendors is technical in nature, and they've already gone through whatever corporate screening is required to make sure they are aligned with the company goals or whatever. Most of my day is spent writing code. I don't even interact with the customer on a daily basis.
The training system we are using has several points where you can essentially test out of a particular area, but they plant "gotcha" questions with vague answers that are easy to trip up which then requires you to go through all the training (and likely makes you seem incompetent to whoever is reviewing this stuff). None of it has anything to do with my job function, and today will be the third (and hopefully final) day I've been stuck not doing real work because corporate boxes need to be checked. -
Niclas Hedhman (niclas@angrytoday.com)'s status on Thursday, 14-Sep-2023 21:30:52 JST Niclas Hedhman Yeah, I remember the "training" in MS. Anti-money laundering, Know-Your-Customer and Politically-Sensitive-Persons were the big things back then... I think it was 2 full days worth of videos when I came in, and then 1-2 videos every quarter, or so.
No idea why they thought systems programmers, who never saw a customer nor any funds would need that. My job was in a team to collect market data and predict dividends, interest rates and volatility.
I bet it is unbearable now.
