@WhiteBoyRooster Rick and Morty spawned countless spinoffs with derivative animation and humor just like the Simpsons did in the 90s. And people who were Simpsons fans back then and grew up to be sad adults are what's keeping networks like Adult Swim in the black today. Sure there are good shows but for every Smiling Friends there's a Brickleberry, Bigmouth, or Cleveland show.
@PraxisOfEvil Arr rook same. I will always remember a critique of why family guy was such a bad influence, It can be funny sure, but the extremely lazy "Art style" was going to end up giving way to this, ever lazier and cheaper to animate content. Worst part is while the simpsons had good writers and family guy's where "ok", these shows have mediocre writers with not much to write about making things worse.
@pariah People keep saying it's the left that has a stranglehold on arts and culture but when you only produce shit like this I really wonder if we're advancing as a society
@ShtPoastAnon You had to be somewhat creative and original around the turn of the century. But now all they just need something that's cheap to produce stylistically where all the "comedy" is straight down the middle sight gags, references to movies, or cum jokes and it'll get greenlit.
@anonaccount People are worried about AI but I say anything that edges out creatively bankrupt libs from the animation market is a good thing...at least for now
I never liked Rick and Morty. Dark, nihilistic humor only goes so far and my memory of R&M is nothing but nihilistic humor. Never watched passed the second season.
@WhiteBoyRooster Some shows skewer the nihilist trope and at least make an attempt to be uplifting. But so many more feature characters that just act as a proxy for their audiences sad lives. People who watch this just get affirmations from Rick Sanchez that it's okay to not give a shit about anything.
@WhiteBoyRooster@PraxisOfEvil Generation defining scene. I don't mean that in a good way, I mean this scene is the reason everyone's a useless wimpy narcissist in my age group (millennial). What I hate most about this stupid fucking scene is that it ruined a really good mazzy star song for me.
@PraxisOfEvil@pariah Damn I cant find it but theres a good infographic about the show 'Bigmouth' and dissecting how jewish animators *have* bad spacial awareness and human characteristic recognitio and while it might not completely pertain to this I think its a good insight into why animatikns so flat and boring (besides cheapness) nowadays. We have more thech than ever to *be able* to make it look better, fastrr and cheaper but, they do not. I think its in large part jews in artistry positions and non jews that have adapted to makimg this awful animation because things like origional Walt Disney and Anime are too hard for them to animate and draw.
And I also agree, we are not progressing as a society, especially in the art department.
@Ripsnort@WhiteBoyRooster This scene was bad because it was a culmination of every secular atheist belief presented as profoundby a fucking cartoon character.
I mean "netflix adaptation" is a meme for a reason, both with shitty live action adaptations and remakes where they tend to cast ugly and different race actors. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/netflix-adaptation
It's funny how we went from "It's whitewashing" with GiTS and that movie to "shut up bigot" with Amazon LoTR.
