@mushroom_soup @DocScranton ok that much silver, even at low purity, would cost MUCH more than 25 cents they'd never release a silver quarter nowadays people would melt them down for the metal.
Also silver is pretty unsuitable for coins compared to modern metals, it tarnishes and wears away over time.luithe likes this. -

@DocScranton that being said it does have a bronze color on the edge from wear so it's probably not silver -

All quarters minted in 2022 and later use the faggy right-facing Washington so it's a very new coin with minimal circulation. That's why it looks so shiny.
Since 1965 all quarters have been pure copper clad in a copper-nickel alloy which is 25% nickel.luithe likes this.
