     that's true, but i'm small scale wheat takes a bit of effort and a lot more land than having a few ears of corn every year lol, it's why i'm going with potatoes as a staple rather than some grain crop, corn is a treat.

     I've tried potatoes a couple times and based on my results I would be better off eating the seed potatoes. If I can get enough clay out of the soil, I might be able to get it to work. Maybe.
     
     I'm planning to try winter wheat this year, probably planting a few weeks from now when I plant next year's garlic.
