     I pay like $18 for a 50lb bag. Lasts 2-3 weeks for 6 hens and 2 roosters. I supplement with veggie scraps too. Chickens can eat almost anything

     check out Chickens + compost piles + vegie garden for chickens

     They dig up the dirt , compost it and eat the bugs

     No grain
     No ((( commercial food)))

     I bought an old greenhouse frame for $50 and converted it into a coop. Between that and all the startup stuff for chicks plus the birds I think I was still under $250

     Well when I bought them as chicks eggs were .49 a dozen. Close to $5 now. I get 6 eggs a day currently

     Yeah I feed grain and veggie scraps. I take their old bedding and wood chips to add into the compost pile. Chicken shit is great fertilizer
