   I think a real problem "right wing" governments have in general is getting academics on it's side.
   
   Of course, I don't know if this exact story is true, or one shared late as a type of black PR campaign (this really important guy retired around this time, and he did it for <insert you preconceived bias> because he was against <insert group>, so you should be like your hero), but I've seen similar sentiments among academics today. It's a common enough story among people around that time, so this sort of behavior is most likely real.

     They get angry when I point out how many of our geniuses are wasting their lives working at wendy’s, but when it’s one of theirs then suddently we’d have colonies on Europa if only lefty-aligned nebbling #3,245 ponied up and stayed in the game
