ROUND 1, MATCH 9 PRE-GAME ANALYSIS

3rd Seed Pyra (Xenoblade 2) VS 30th Seed Ichinose Asuna (Blue Archive)

Tomorrow we'll have our first match in the second half of the tournament bracket! And of course, now it’s finally time for my girl to see some action. Truth be told, I am pretty nervous about this one, probably for no good reason, but still – Pyra is a top seed purely through Nominations, and still untested as far as high-vote contest matches go. Alice is currently showing how vulnerable such top seeds can be. And while Ichinose Asuna did NOT impress in the Qualifier poll, only getting the same amount of votes as Yuri, I could see her benefiting more than most from the Battle Pic Factor – well before I actually knew who she was or what game she was from, I’d seen enough images of this one really hot girl with a gun and big boobs that she was fairly recognizable to me.

That said, and personal bias aside, Pyra is highly favored here for various reasons – there are plenty of Xenoblade enjoyers on Fedi, and Pyra actually seems to be even more popular than her own game – I’ve seen lots of people here say that they’ve never played Xenoblade 2, yet still think Pyra is hot af, and that she makes them want to play the game. She’s been getting plenty of attention and fan art ever since Xenoblade 2 was first announced, and never actually fell off. And THEN she was added to Smash Ultimate, with her and Mythra becoming a top tier character with frequent and strong tournament showings. Not only that, some of the worst people in the world (gaming journalists, trannies, SJWs etc) keep insulting and attacking Pyra for being beautiful and feminine, which just scores her more and more points with the userbases of Based Fedi instances. And then just recently we had the whole Pyra Figure Freakout, which could only have helped her (also, the booty on that Pyra figure is pure sex).

So Pyra definitely ought to have real contest strength. And she also faces an opponent who, while very beautiful, might be anti-voted a fair bit due to anti-Gacha, anti-mobile gaming sentiment. Even a contestant as strong as UMP45 got hurt by this during her match with Remilia. All in all, this should be a comfortable Pyra win, but I won’t breathe easy until I actually see her dominating.
