     When she asks "Why do Americans want guns?" It's as if she's speaking about a foreign entity, an outside group - which it is. In her article she references Whites who killed blacks and interviews Whites at a gunshow. All reinforcing the fact that blacks don't really see themselves as Americans. She understands as well as you and I do that Americans are White and blacks are blacks.
