   since 2021 I've tried to prevent CSAM on Poast, we have reached out to NCMEC multiple times including through Cloudflare in 2022:

   they refuse to allow Poast access to scan every user upload on the basis poast is "registered in canada" despite ALL of our user generating hardware being in the united states. we aren't allowed to use the biggest database of CSAM to scan our user uploads against because I'm Canadian and it's illegal for anybody to have a database of hashes to even provide a 3rd party free database of literal letters and numbers. you're not allowed to prevent CSAM materials without permission and if you try to you need to give the government every piece of your ID possible and be registered to do it.

     the reason this is important is because if you crowdsource hashes you will go to jail for as long as the guys who made the CSAM material. you cant have access to it AND you cant produce or own them yourself because its illegal

     The cynic in me says that the reason is that they want the ability to put the stuff hashes would remove on your servers, not any bureaucracy. Evil through and through.
