This would be an example of the big gaping pockets I’m talking about.
Great for bigger packs, and use shock cord to tighten the top edge of the pocket

Working on side pocket design.
Since this will be for a fast pack, I decided to go with a stretchy mesh and have the pocket more flush as opposed to the big gaping side pockets and solid fabric of UL packs for normal backpacking.
The goal is for the top line of the pockets to be tight enough to hold things like bottles in, but the pleats at the bottom allow for extra volume for other things.
