The more I think about it, the more the US resembles Russia in the 1990s - unbridled corruption, signs of collapse everywhere you look, a government in thrall to criminal oligarchs and a general sense of hopelessness and despair.
Thing is we’re not even close to reaching rock bottom.

@DW2 Was there anything in Russia similar to the Rich building walled cities ala Brazil? It’s weird seeing those beginning to happen here in America
-
@D-Droid I’m sure the 90s oligarchs had their own fortified dachas with their personal private armies.
But I’m glad you bring up the subject of gated communities- these fuckers have their own heavily armed goons, and when they waste someone it gets no media attention (by design I should add)

@DW2 It's been clear for a long time

@CrustyB @DW2 killing the oligarchs and crowning an emperor.
This faggoty kabuki legal dramas are a feature of democracy.

They're not imprisoning Trump or keeping him from running, they're preventing 50% of the nation from voting for their preferred leader. If that isn't an actual attack on democracy then I don't know what is.

Even when Soviet leadership consisted of old men, they never had ones who didn't know where they are, froze mid-talk, etc. They at least had the decency that when someone got too old, he was removed from power.
