Another ancient photo from my archive for #FossilFriday:
This is the Barosaurus in the atrium of the American Museum of Natural History in New York, as photographed by yours truly on a not very good quality film way back in September of 2002.
I can't remember anything about this fossil or the dinosaur due to the 21 years between photo and today so here's Wikipedia for more info (unless a palaeontologist can chip in with any of their expert knowledge about it) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barosaurus

1. Looking directly up at the raised, right forelimb and the neck and head of the Barosaurus in the atrium of the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The fossil animal looks as if it is about to crush you with its foot. The forelimb is in the left foreground and slightly out of focus. The very long neck stretches from just right-of-centre at the bottom towards the top right corner of the portrait photo. The bottom of the skull at the end of the neck is visible in the near-centre of an octagonal relief on the distant ceiling of the atrium. More octagonal reliefs are seen forming a uniform pattern across the background, with smaller squares completing the tessellation between the octagons.

2. Barosaurus
  
  Barosaurus ( BARR-oh-SOR-əs) was a giant, long-tailed, long-necked, plant-eating sauropod dinosaur closely related to the more familiar Diplodocus. Remains have been found in the Morrison Formation from the Upper Jurassic Period of Utah and South Dakota. It is present in stratigraphic zones 2–5.The composite term Barosaurus comes from the Greek words barys (βαρυς) meaning "heavy" and sauros (σαυρος) meaning "lizard"; thus "heavy lizard". Description Barosaurus was an enormous animal, with some adults measuring about 25–27 m (82–89 ft) in length and weighing about 12–20 metric tons (13–22 short tons). According to Mike Taylor, the 1.37 m (4.5 ft) long vertebra BYU 9024, previously identified as part of the type individual of Supersaurus vivianae, may actually belong to Barosaurus. He suggested that, interpreted as belonging to Barosaurus, the vertebra suggests an animal that was 48 m (157 ft) long and around 66 t (73 short tons) in weight making...
