   This type of article, from NASA no less, leaves me with a mixture of negative emotions.

   Fear, anxiety, desperation., helplessness. Guilt.

   And ultimately, it boils down to a quiet numbness. Not comfortably numb, to coin a song. But vapidly numb.

     @amigalove, yes, we all screwed up. But we can still act. Everyone can a have an impact on how this develops from now. There is no need to wait for anyone to change before starting to change the way we treat our planet.

     I don’t eat mammals, which I know is a big help (esp. if 3/4 of us did the same, and frankly no meat at all). But I know I could do much more. I’d like to invest in solar panels once my kids are out of the house and my bills reduce.

     But yeah. It’s all very daunting.

     Simply electrifying all land transport and domestic heating (using heat pumps) would cut total energy demand by a third or more in the UK.

     And that wouldn't even impact peoples activities. The efficiency improvements of electrifying the systems makes a big difference.
