   now that YouTube doesn't offer recommendations anymore unless you enable the Watch History, i'm 100% reliant on recommendations from my friends for new videos and channels to watch. maybe it's better this way. more friends, less algorithm, please.

     @thor yeah sometimes you need to bounce around to a different instance, but it's not a big deal imo. A lot of instances even give you an http download link so you can save the video and watch it later. There is a desktop app called FreeTube that works similarly IIRC, and it even supports subscriptions (local)

     @thatguyoverthere i bet they don't have the CDN that YouTube does. i've had issues with videos loading slowly. YouTube collaborates with ISPs like Telenor in Norway to cache videos locally so they'll load fast.

     @thatguyoverthere @thor Invidious is the best way, and you can subscribe and make playlist with a local account (if you want and account on instance you can just ask)
