According to iPhone users, once you switch to the iPhone, there's no going back to Android.
Is it true? 🤔

@nixCraft I've never owned an android phone but after using one for work, having a go with friends phones and using android tablets i can safely say i would not switch unless there was no other option. Everything just feels "clunky".
@nixCraft i switch from iphone back to android. Did not like iphone.
@nixCraft Not for me, no. The hardware's usually very good, but after owning a couple of iPhones over the years, I've come to the conclusion that the software is just too locked down for my taste, even though it's a lot better than it once was.
@nixCraft The question is kinda missing the point. Android or iPhone is more or less same same but different.
It’s when you have an iPhone, Mac, maybe an iPad, Apple Watch or Apple TV things really start to fall into place. It’s when you have the convenience of the integrated ecosystem that Apple really shines.
For me it’s more about MacOS being vastly superior over Windows, and if I run MacOS I can as well use iPhone to get the benefit of the integration between them.
I went iPhone and never came back. So in my case, yes.
@nixCraft I’m going to buy either a Google or Samsung phone within the next two weeks, so definitely not true
@nixCraft My current and first iOS phone is an iPhone SE (2020). I plan to go back to Android after it has lived out its useful life. As an IT professional, I prefer the greater level of control and customization that Android offers.
@nixCraft No.
@nixCraft I swapped from Android to iOS a couple of years ago because I fancied a change. iOS is a really nice OS these days and it suits my needs perfectly.
@nixCraft I own and use both indifferently, but I prefer Android.
@nixCraft Not for me. Though I've had an iPhone in the past, supplied by my work. It was essentially my first smart phone I 'owned'. While I got used to it, it always kinda pissed me off. Granted this was back in like 2014. After I left that position and had to return the phone, went with a cheap android. Mostly due to cost, but I immediately felt at home. And to this day iPhones UI still rubs me the wrong way.
@nixCraft I have no faith in the security of Android software.
@nixCraft let me know when apple get a PS2 emulator
@nixCraft For me it's untrue. started with the iPhone in 2009, switched to Android in 2011, switched back shortly after, then switched back to Android in 2013. Never went back after that. I could never.
To each their own, but the lack of what I consider basic computer functionality (native file manager, installing apps not in app store, etc.) in iOS is very off-putting to me.
@nixCraft count me in the column of Apple devotee. I have daily driven Android, rooted Android, and iPhone. The latter is truly the superior experience for everyday productivity and ease of use "for me". Like all things, your mileage may vary. I have lots and friends and family who get new phones a lot due to hardware failures. I have never HAD to get a new phone because mine died.
@nixCraft I started on iPhone and decided to go to android. Spent like 5 phones on android and went back to iPhone. After a bit of adjustment I see no reason to go back to android.
@nixCraft After using android for 14 years I got an iPhone for work and I hate it. Will not be switching my personal phone any time soon.
@nixCraft Former iPhone user, or should I say "usee" since I felt being used rather than me controlling the device. Now enjoying @calyxos on mobile and @pop_os_official on desktop.
So definitely not true in my case.
#walledgarden #ios #degoogled #opensource #freesoftware #linux #android
@nixCraft these days, I don’t think that’s true. There was a time when it was.
@nixCraft True.
@nixCraft isn’t the real issue that we really only have two choices? I’ve used both and always find something missing from one or the other. Currently using iPhone to mollify parents.
@nixCraft very hard to swap when I have a foldable. Just enjoy having a tablet available at all times.
Plus I came from iPhone sooo...guess they couldn't keep me locked in.
@nixCraft of course it is, iPhone stupefies people.
@nixCraft Tim Cook takes all the Apple users hostage in his walled garden 🏡
@nixCraft well, both are great, it depends what you expect. Already switched multiple times between Android and iOS, the only painpoint is the ability to transfer data (eg. WhatsApp)...
@nixCraft First I'd need to see an Android phone that still gets full support 5 years after launch.
@nixCraft Mostly I think.
@nixCraft My wife went to Iphone and came back to Android a few years later without a problem. She felt like in jail with her Iphone.
@nixCraft can’t wait to go back to Android once I’ve paid this damn thing off
The more I learn the more I miss Symbian or sum shit
@nixCraft I miss windows phone 8 🙈
@nixCraft this could be a very valid opinion.the lack of openness in the iOS (mostly) environment is something I couldn't bear especially on a daily used device.
@nixCraft I don't like apple. Used to hate it, now I just don't like it. Since I didn't wanted to be just a hater I gave myself a apple chalange. Created a Hackintosh and bought used iPhone and spent more than a year with them. Now I get, why some people prefer iPhones, but no option for personalisation really annoyed me.
I know, what I want and I don't like that Apple thinks that they know it better, than I do.
@nixCraft I'm in virtual production, so I use an iPhone to test UE5's livelink feature. And I had an AR project that first mandated the purchase of that phone. There's not enough versatility or specialization in an Android phone to force me to switch. (I'm using Android because ...) while having various computers with different Os for different reasons (Windows PC for gaming, Ubuntu laptop for scripting / development / comic books, RasPi Linux for media center and cool electronic projects) ...
@nixCraft Not having a Mac severly limited my use when i had an iPhone.
Switched to a Google Pixel and loved the feeling of being in control of my phone. ( actually getting files off my phone without an app!! Midnight Commander freely available if i needed file mamagement)
Just moved to a used Samsung S21 Utlra and bought a stylus. Don't think I will ever go back to Apple. I'm too productive now!!
( this toot is handwritten and converted to text )
@nixCraft I use both, as there are inherent advantages and disadvantages to both iOS and Android.
@nixCraft I will go back to a 2G Nokia before I'd go back to an Android ever again. Windows 10 Mobile was still my favorite phone experience.
I don't really want to buy heavily into the iPhone ecosystem because of the proprietary nonsense, but it's incredible how much Stockholm Syndrome people have with Google and Android. It's absolutely terrible.
