   Most folks don't seem to realize it, but defaults play a big role. Even though ZSH is the default shell on macOS now, many prefer to go back to good ol' Bash. I suppose that having superior software does not guarantee success in a popularity contest where compatibility is crucial.

     @nixCraft same reason why linux 🐧on desktop is not popular.
     Windows 🪟 comes as default OS in most of the laptops and pre built desktop setups.

     @nixCraft It's a question of habit too. Zsh does a few things that annoys the ... out of me since it's not even close to how bash behaves and I've used bash for decades.

     @nixCraft macOS ships with bash-3.2 from 2006(!). When going back to bash, people should seriosly consider installing a more recent version, i.e. via Homebrew.
