     @skylar @WashedOutGundamPilot That's the rain shadow of the Rockies, and it gets green because weather from the east reaches as far as the Mississippi watershed

     @DemonSixOne It’s Visual Flight Rules base layer, the low altitude charts used in flight. They’re supposed to be basic approximations of the US terrain below you. Everything else is just bland, you get a little bit of terrain on the higher level charts but I’d never really paid much attention to how clean that division is, always too zoomed in

     @WashedOutGundamPilot Not really altitude as much as a transition to grassland/shrubland from forests. The lands from western North Dakota to eastern Colorado and into north Texas as well are basically the American steppe.

     @wgiwf That’s what I kinda expect, but why’s it so stark in a north-south line? You’d think it would follow terrain features. Is it just the mississippi river?
