     In 2000-2001, when the state first tried to propose REAL ID legislation, the country general rejected this totalitarian, antidemocratic concept.

     But now we've had 20+ years of chaos, propaganda, & war, and we have a very successful right-wing, fascist-creeping oligarchy, we have a openly corrupt supreme court, so NOW is the time to try REAL ID again, isnt it. Grey Beards died off, didnt they. Not all of us. ; )

     @nixCraft in Spain we have required official ID's (fortunately they are not required for everything, but every fiscal & official transaction requires it). For long time I assumed this was something normal until I knew long standing democracies don't have it, and the dpanish one it's a legacy of the Franco's dictatorship.

     As long as you can, keep that away from you.

I don’t want to come off all techno-libertarian, but I can’t even count the problems with this proposal — and nobody who has paid attention to the evolution of real-name policies on social media should need to think very long before running away screaming from any such suggestion. Fortunately, plenty of nations already have digital ID systems that work, so there will be balkanised facts on the ground long before a unified worldwide system can get going.
