Sony’s $200 handheld “Portal” can stream games from your PS5 and, uh, that’s it
Previously known as "PlayStation Q," the handheld is far from a new PlayStation Vita.

@arstechnica most people do not pant to pay several hundreds of dollars for what amounts to be a streaming device-may as well use a phone or tablet+controller at that point
@arstechnica But ... why?! 😳 ...
I actually don’t hate it, honestly. I think the price is not that bad, and since it’s not a Bluetooth controller connection (like I’d have to do with my iPad ), there won’t be any extra bit of latency there. Plus it can do 60fps whereas the app can just do 30 (I believe).
The worst thing about it is that it can’t access the cloud games, but I’m not sure what technical limitation of the device here is other than them not writing the software interface for it.
@arstechnica won’t this have input/video lag? I just don’t see the benefit of these types of devices.
@arstechnica they should have simply released a controller for Sony Xperia
@arstechnica lol $200 for what any phone can already do with a $30 Bluetooth controller
this is some blatant customer soaking
@arstechnica Ah yes, the company that brought you the memory stick and promoted it for years after the MP3 player nuked removable media music players from orbit, bringing another ill-conceived product for a minuscule market.
@arstechnica ah yes, you can finally play your PS5 from your couch
