   Never watched a single episode of tucker carlson

   Haven’t watched any of that “really good” tv everyone bugs me about

   Kinda weirded out by how much mindshare these things have in the genx cohort. “I’ve been rewatching the sopranos/the wire lately, isn’t that just the best show?” and “oh man that episode of tucker was great last night!” are about the only topics they have these days.

   Millennial guys at least have interests, hobbies to dig into. I love it when someone has a mountain of fresh data to feed me, stuff I’ve never learned about that they understand in spades. They tend to be pretty well read, in a very niche subject of some sort (hopefully not video games though, holy shit)

     Not to say I’m completely out of the loop. When something is big I usually pick up enough clues from convos talking about it to know what’s going on, or even have people tell me what they love about it. So I can hang, when you’re talking about them, even put up a convincing fake like “yeah, breaking bad was solid for the first two seasons but once jesse’s GF comes in it just lost it for me, I tapped out”

     It just surprises me that media apparently takes up so much of normie’s lives and time. I get it if you’re a line pilot or trucker on the road all the time, but for someone who has time off? There are many more fun things to enjoy

     I’m not totally against media, either, I just insist that it be enjoyable in order to deserve my time. A whole lot of things aren’t pretty, aren’t cute, aren’t uplifting, and aren’t engaging enough to deserve any more than…..40% of my attention while I do something else. A whole lot of western franchises are really made by the community that people feel when they engage with them, you know that’s the case because the fervor dies down once they finish airing, and they’re never seen again in the public eye.

     Mandalorian? What happened to that whole thing, it was all normies were talking about for a few months, now it’s forgotten.

     I quit watching TV in the 90s, but I can keep up a conversation about all the latest shows (Lost, Game of Thrones etc) because nobody will stfu about them; I feel like I know all the plots as if I'd seen the shows.
