    TL;DR:

    1. Spend time working in government to understand how policy works
    2. Look for ways to collaborate with think tanks (or in my experience, policy units in govt/NGOs)
    3.Work to change academic norms to value use-inspired research (which to some extent is the reason I've been blogging about #ClimateServices this summer)
