     @TeaTootler I really hate it, the fans are effusive about how funny it is and it’s just the usual “one guy laughs a lot while one guy riffs” thing. They don’t realize they THINK it’s funnier than it is because it has a laugh track.

     Every joke they recommened to me has been something super crass and un-comedic, in true burned out, SSRI millennial fashion.

     @TalmudTranslator Opie’s continued spiral is kinda funny, but I’ll give him credit: The guy served a purpose in making “good radio”, even if he didn’t do it well. So many streamers could REALLY take a lesson from that.

     Never listened to O&A, but have heard scraps here and there. I’m always blown away people think Jim Norton is funny, he’s just disgusting and perverse and they’re laughing out of shock. His “Chip Chipperson” bit is so extremely boomer-funny it’s painful.

     I definitely get the vibe that Cumtown is this “hey, WE can have fun and laugh too!” version of DRW culture, like the vegan burger wannabe to our beef patty

I always joke that almost everything in modern culture loops back into something opie and anthony started. They were the foundation of what podcasts became and also were video livestreaming their shows with live commenting back as early as 99 and then were basically doing irl streams but in 2005. But with all this lead and innovation opie has 200 views per YouTube upload

He’s so negative and anti fun about stuff though so it’s harder to listen to now. It’s still funny and I like putting it on in the background at work or while I’m playing more passive games

A whole genre of them came out after 2016, where a bunch of nausea-inducing middle-aged communists from Brooklyn recited safe-edgy jokes for an hour, interrupting them at various points to put on their Serious Hats and remind everyone to Vote Blue No Matter Who.
     
     It's one of those things someone can bring up and I instinctively stop thinking of them as a person.
