#fosstodon today banned my account in a blatant show of bigotry. They hide behind the fact that I asked for help to get my meds, but they have routinely shown bigotry and hatred to LGBT posters. I am banning them on my instance and calling for a #fediblock until they reverse my account ban and pledge to stop targeting LGBT members of the #foss community.
@DeltaWye@bishop@dalias Same here. I'm quite a happy fosstodon camper but this is at least alarming! Is there any proof of these claims, so people can see for themselves if this is enough evidence to move accounts? I'd sure like to know.
@bishop@dalias Bishop Greer - I have to admit, I was a bit surprised and cautiously skeptical when I first read your comments here.
But if that’s an official policy, and the email thing too sort of thing speaks volumes about people’s character and intent so to speak.
I’m disappointed to hear that there are elements like this in the FOSS community. I’m sure that doesn’t represent everyone at all, but, I mean wow. I wish you the best in your endeavors here.
@bishop "Do not debate moderation actions in public toots" sounds like a very abusive policy. Perhaps I should move the (project) account I have on Fosstodon off of it...
They also give out a defunct email to send appeals to. This should violate the Mastodon Code many of us admins signed in to. But why call out bad behavior when you can foster it in large instances. #fosstodon#fediblock#Mastodon
@dalias@DeltaWye@bishop Hmm, I have hardly seen any server that doesnt have these kind of rules. Controversial is all in the eye of the beholder, which can be used for racist as well as left winged; language debates; any politics; even any Twitter related subjects.
Since FOSS itself is considered controversial for many it's clear to me that controversy is meant in a relative and not racist manner.
