   @Wormwood @LordMordred Older guys have told me that when flying passenger service it’s a good idea to add that “apollo program drawl”. The classic pilots’ vocal fry supposedly inspires confidence in people.

   Supposedly has its roots in early media portrayals of cool guys, or everyone imitating yeager. I think in reality you just hear your own voice coming through the PA and start talking lower pitched, and adding the fry in order to keep the line keyed while you gather your thoughts and brief

     @LordMordred I'm ok with it, vocal fry is an inherently masculine trait. It's very subtle and fits well with a deep voice, most people wouldn't notice. When women try it, it sticks out and sounds annoying to some bc their voice is too high. I don't care about personally. George Sanders, notorious movie villain did it all the time which is why he was a perfect VA for Sher Khan, in the Jungle Book, it gives off the vibe of a large tiger or lion. If it's done right, conveys a sense of power and calmness.
