my quadruple vaccinated brother just called and said his wife has covid. I saw his wife a few days ago.
- Machismo repeated this.

@11112011 @Terry it was a fediverse joke? ok. In the meantime I finally looked at this new fearporn and
> A fast-spreading new subvariant of the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 — nicknamed “Eris” by health watchers but formally known as EG.5 — recently became the most prevalent strain in the country, according to recent official estimates, though it does not appear to cause significant illness or pose immediate danger.
>fast-spreading
>not cause significant illness
so the "more infectious+less dangerous" pattern is still in play. They're saying "COVID IS EVEN LESS SCARY NOW" in a scary tone of voice, and hoping people get scared again by it.

@11112011 @Terry you're kinda dumb for paying attention to this at all
-
@apropos yeah I didn't want to bring up that point with him at this time but I was thinking just that. I smoke a pack of cigs a day and never got the jab. Covid should have killed me by now.
-
@Terry but you're not vaccinated so you don't care because you have a robust immunity to covid now?
but you're not vaccinated so he thinks it's your fault even though you have a robust immunity and he doesn't?
but you're vaccinated so you're worried now because your immune system was mistrained on a spike protein not seen in over three years?
>quadruple vaccinated
are you sure he hasn't snuck some more in?

@Terry @apropos The average age of death of first strain was above the natural lifespan age. The young who died had multiple comorbidities. If you have covid, though it can feel really bad, there is such a little chance of death that you shouldn't be too worried

@apropos I am getting a little paranoid right now tho.
